Why is my car oil leaking?

I have noticed that there is a little leak under my steering wheel rack.I will take it to the garage tomorrow but would like to know what could be the problem before I take it, so I know what I am dealing with. If you could also tell me approximately how much you think a leak would cost to fix it. It will be appreciated.

Let's hope it's just a hose and not the steering rack, they are expensive. Hoses are usually about 100 to 50 each plus labour. Why is my car oil leaking?
Frankly it could be anything, from failed oil seals, failed gaskets to simply a connection that needs tightening a little, so the cost could vary wildly.
One of the seals probably dried out in your rack and now it drips. Is it red fluid?

Call your local auto parts store and get a quote for a rebuild rack and pinion. Add $100 to the cost and that will give you a rough estimate of the cost, or change it yourself. It is an easy job with basic tools.
It may not be leaking from the steering, it may be leaking from the sump and seeping along, a main dealer will cost about 拢85.00 per hour plus any parts and they have a fixed priced time to do it so they may allow 2 hours to sort the problem whether or not it is fixed in 1 hour or not, I would have been incline to take it for an MOT whether or not it needs it and you will be told the problem exactly.
sucks dude get rid of your ford man
It could be a number of things such as---a oil pan/ valve cover gasket leaking rack and pinion could be bad. It could be a number of things as you can see. Take it to a reliable shop that you trust. As far as cost it is hard to say it all depends what they find wrong.
An oil leak can come from a number of things. From a gasket to even the oil filter not scewred on properly. If its just a gasket then it won't cost that much for the gasket itself but if you have a mechanic do it then the price will go up quickly. Try and pressure wash the engine and see if you can see were it comes from after the engine is clean and you should be able to tell why its leaking.
it's a FORD !!!!
What colour is the oil ? If its black its from the engine,if its clear its from the steering rack.Whichever it is it will need new gaskets.
no problem, just leave it until it stops cos it's then empty, so end of leak problem!
