Do most vw engines leak oil?

A guy who is selling a vw said that like most vw's it leaked oil. I just wanted to know if he is lying. The engine is a 1967 1500ccDo most vw engines leak oil?
It quite common for the 1500 air cooled engine (and the 1200-1600s) to leak oil at the seals under the oil cooler. Replacement seals are inexpensive and the cooler just bolts on, but the engine has to be pulled in most cases because the cooler is inside the air shroud.

All motors have the possibility of leaking fluids. The commonality of one particular motor depends on quality of motor parts and design of the engine. A six month line of motors could have a streak of fluid leaks due to faulty gaskets being shipped to the assembly plant from a distributor. When this would occur then a TSB and/or recall would be issued. The possibility is there that the guy could be right from his prior experience of selling that particular car.
Yes, they did/do a little drip here and there. The Aluminium block halves where they're bolted together sometimes leak a little . the valve cover gaskets always leaked

Remember it's a 33 year old engine
