2001 montero sport keeps losing oil every 2 months but i dont have a visible leak, whats going on?

i check the oil every month and a half and it seems that i have to add about 3 quarts each time i check. there are no oil spots in my drive way, so its not leaking externaly. it started 3 months ago when i had wal-mart do my oil change and they did not tighten the oil pan drain plug properly. could this have caused another problem in my engine? never had an issue with this before.2001 montero sport keeps losing oil every 2 months but i dont have a visible leak, whats going on?
Is the car putting out a Bluish/Gray smoke when you accelerate hard? If it is, it's burning oil. Rebuild engine, it's no good. You can try to replace your piston seals and do all the other things that MIGHT help it stop burning oil, but the engine will not be the same. Especially since, it appears you favor cheap work over quality as evident by you taking your car to be serviced at WALMART ((!!!!!?????))))), any mechanic shop that's cheap might not be experienced in doing that level if engine work on such a modern engine.

This of course, is if you are burning oil. AND STOP TAKING YOUR CAR TO WALMART!!!! NO ONE DOES THAT OTHER THAN MINI-VAN MOMS WHO DON'T KNOW BETTER!!!2001 montero sport keeps losing oil every 2 months but i dont have a visible leak, whats going on?
Do a compression check on each cylinder see if there is low compression .if so you may have a bad head gasket ( there not fun or cheap to fix)

p.s. if the oil plug leaked you would see oil
you are saying there are no visible drops of oil when you park somewhere, which would be weird, the other cause is depending on mileage, the oil pressure sending switch is leaking,,, but I would look at oil filter being crossed threaded or the plug washer being missing,
more than likely it may be using a little oil ,it might could have caused some problems but unless it was run real low on oil it probably didn't do it,but id still take it to a good mechanic and have it checked, and get his opinion on it,there is a possibility that what they did might have hurt it but only if it got run dry on oil, good luck with it.
You may have ';blow by';. this is when the piston rings wears out and allow oil to seep over the top of the piston. This oil then mixes with the gas and air mixture and upon combustion causing a dark plume of smoke upon start up. This smoke will almost become invisible once your engine warms up unless you have a major blow by.

To reduce the excess consumption of oil, try changing to a 20W50 oil on your next oil change. This thicker oil will reduce the blow by and also reduces excess tailpipe smokes.
It could be that when walmart did not tighten the drain plug properly that you lost enough oil to damage the engine and caused the engine to start using the oil. I would advise you to go back to the walmart manager and have them replace the engine, it may take a small claims court to get this done but it would be worth it.
its burning it all vehicles suck a little oil
Juanito: I will start by replacin my PCV , and if this does not help it do as our other friend says next oil change , use heavier oil, si no ya va a ser hora de que lo vendas , know what I mean?.
