Oil leaking out of the oil filler cap?

Today I noticed some oil residue around the cap, and a streak going down the clutch cover... is this normal? I haven't checked the oil level since I bought the bike 1000 miles ago, and it has been about 3k miles since the last change so I doubt it is overfilled.Oil leaking out of the oil filler cap?
There's a crankcase vent inside your air box (where the air filter is) and perhaps an oil trap on the bottom... One or both of these is probably clogged or restricted... If there is in fact an oil trap for your crankcase breather, it will be a small clear tube on the bottom of your air box... If you see oil in it, it needs to be drained. The tube will either have a plug in one end or will simply hook to a post on the frame with a clamp. Pull it loose, drain it and replace it. The problem could also be affected by a dirty air cleaner element... wouldn't hurt to clean\replace it while you're in the air box. It'll be a tight squeeze to get to the tube if there is one, so be prepared. Have a flashlight handy %26amp; long nosed pliers... Hope this helps...Oil leaking out of the oil filler cap?
Change the o-ring on the oil fill cap. When the bike was

prep-ed by the dealer, it might have gotten pinched. Inspect the cap - it could be cracked.

Clean the area until it's dry of any dirt or oil. Sprinkle some white baby powder all over and around the cap. Ride the bike and keep checking the cap. The baby powder will discolor where the oil leak is.
I would say it is not normal. Check to see if oil filler cap could have

loosened up, If not check for holes in cap
if the cap was screwed up tight....its probably from when it was filled.....if the screw was loose.....tighten it up....

%26amp; no oil shouldnt leak out there.....you may want to check the

O-ring/ gasket on the filler screw/cap...
What I find un-normal is that you would drive it without checking to see if there was any oil in it.
new or used.check your oil every time you ride.check

the cap it could be cracked or the rubber gasket. it doesn't

sound like anything major. what oil do you run?
Check the breather and see if it is plugged. Will cause pressure in the case and push oil out of the weakest place.

Usually the cap.
guardrai.. might be onto something. The bozos at the shop probably lost your O-ring when putting oil in the bike originally.

My O-ring never stayed in place when I removed the oil filler cap on my ZX-11. How I managed to never lose the O-ring, I'll never know.
