Oil leaking from decompression lever bad?

Is oil leaking from a decompression pump a bad thing, or is it okay to ride with it like that and just need to check my oil frequently? Oil leaking from decompression lever bad?
It's a bad thing. You probably need rings.Oil leaking from decompression lever bad?
last post...RINGS.....LOL

could be any number of things.. but start with the easy cheap things first.

Take the rocker cover off.. check the O-ring seal on the lever..

next check the valve stems.... then go looking at rings %26amp; stuff in the bottom of the motor.
well without seeing the machine, and not knowing what make, model, cc's, or anything else, i will make this statement....if the oil is not gushing out with the engine running, and the function of the decompression system is not impaired, wipe it often, keep it clean, drive fast, have fun.
Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.

Change the seal.

Eventually the seal will give out and you'll wind up with an enormous oil leak.

Stop running the engine when the seal blows out.

The only damage that will occur at the moment is the engine will get dirty.

Keep checking the oil level.
