What is a good additive to put in the oil to help prevent leaking? I have a small leak?

No ';stop leak'; additives ever end up being good for your engine. They cause more problems down the road than they ever cure. Get the leak repaired correctly if you can. If it is a seal leaking, you could try using a high grade synthetic motor oil. Most good synthetics use some ';ester'; base stock in the oil which tends to swell engine seals sometimes even enough to diminish small leaks, plus, the oil is better for your engine than conventional motor oils. What is a good additive to put in the oil to help prevent leaking? well you can't put it in the oil but it is called new gaskets or seals whichever one you needWhat is a good additive to put in the oil to help prevent leaking? I have a small leak?
I would use nothing but what you've been using if its not bad... just keep a eye on it and change the seal if you want to, this is the only good fix..... if its leaking like heck and your gonna get rid of it soon, I would then use the quick fix additives.... these are of course only quick fixes and barely some of them work... You may want to try a higher oil weight... like 10w-40
Depending on How small it is you should try a fluid called RESTORE. It comes in a shiny chrome can and when you pour it in, it should look blue. It helps to seal off small leaks that can arise from old engines. The only side effect is that you may see a drop in oil pressure when sitting at idle. Nothing to worry about though. Hope this helps
There are a couple of additives that will help on small leaks Lucas is one of them, I don't know the name of the other one offf hand but NAPA has it.
none
If the leak is small enough (1 QT every 3000 miles) i wouldnt add anything. If its larger you should locate the leak add fix it. Dont add anything to the oil because it might plug up the tiny holes that move the oil through the engine.
To PREVENT leaking, you can use a motor oil for high milage engines. If you already have a leak, you need to have th e leak fixed. The only thing you should put in the oil is oil.
