Oil leaking from the oil pan plug?

My oil pan has a gouge and is pitted where the plug screws in. The plug usually takes a metal washer but there is a narsty gouge in the pan where it goes. Anyone had any luck using a rubber o ring or any sugestions.Oil leaking from the oil pan plug?
Outside of replacing the oil pan itself, rubber o-rings are probably not the best since they can twist, stretch and get pushed out of position easily or simply break under pressure or tightening and cause more of a leak. The best quick fix solution is to get a fairly thick (1/8'; or so) nylon washer to use between the existing washer and the pan along with maybe a spot of RTV sealer at that gouge point.

Best of luck.
