Need to change a turbo which is leaking oil?

Got a Peugeot turbo diesel van, its dumping exccessive amounts of black smoke from the exhaust, also lossing alot of oil. So i need to replace the turbo, therefore there is alot of oil in the inlet pipe and intercooler, does these need to be cleaned out before running or will the oil burn by itself in the engine. if so how long will it take to burn off. cheers Need to change a turbo which is leaking oil?
What you need to do is remove the turbo, inlet pipe, outlet pipe and the inter-cooler, Clean out the pipes with a rag and some petrol, the inter-cooler will require some work to get it clean. The best way to do it is to purchase some engine de-greasing fluid. Pour it neat into the after cooler and then block of in the inlet and outlet, give the whole lot a good shake and then let it stand for a bit. Then pour out the de-greasing fluid, you will then need to add as much boiling water as you can produce. Try to fill the inter-cooler with boiling water and let it stand for 5 mins, this will hopefully heat up the inter-cooler. The drain all the water out, if the inter-cooler is hot the remaining moisture will evaporate out the cooler.

Ja.Need to change a turbo which is leaking oil?
If you do not thoroughly clean out the air to air heat exchanger it will loose a substantial amount of it's efficiency. The residual oil will also trap minuscule particles which pass through the air filter which will continue to degrade the performance of the heat exchanger.
Hi

This isn't a Peugeot but its the same principal:-

Give it a go and you should be good to go.

Very best regards

Geordie
The excess oil would burn off after time but I would recommend cleaning as much oil as you can from the system.
clean out all of your air to air pipes before driving again it will smell like crap
