On a 96 mercury marquis oil is leaking in the front center of the engine where could the leak be coming from?

By your description, the oil could be leaking from any of the following places: engine front cover gasket, front crank seal, or rusted through engine oil pan.On a 96 mercury marquis oil is leaking in the front center of the engine where could the leak be coming from?
Could be bad valve cover gasket. On a 96 mercury marquis oil is leaking in the front center of the engine where could the leak be coming from?
front main seal
front main seal or the oil pan in front. front main seal is a easy fix hope for that.
should be easy to identify just follow the trail. If it's too dirty wash the motor at the car wash. but be kind when your done pull your car out and wash all the oily greasy nasty straight to the drain.

it should be either the oil pan gasket (at bottom) or the valve cover gasket (at the top) That is, if there are no other problems. be sure and check and fill your oil as needed.

You cold have a different problem you should get it checked by someone who knows. If it is a gasket it is a cheap fix right now. If you dont fix it it could lead to serious engine damage.
