The car is an 88, if you are not putting more than a quart in the motor between oil changes, I would say dont worry about it. More than likely the car is leaking in more than 1 place. By the time you pull the pan, valve covers and who knows what else, you are looking at an overhaul gasket set replacement (very expensive) without the overhaul. If you dont like the oil stains, you can put cardboard down where you park. If it is leaking 3 quarts or more between oil changes, then I would say you have a serious problem that needs fixed. Otherwise, I would drive it the way it is and save myself some serious cash, because you would never get that money back out of the car. by the way, does it have high miles? put a sheet of cardboard under the vehicle let it set for approximitly 1 hour look under the car and see where the drip is at look up and you should see where your leak is comming from
the thing to do is take some time and take your car and stop in and get some estimates and ask question i never hurts to ask on the sunfire it should be time to change what they call the valve cover gasket which in time they do start to leak which is something normal with time wear and tear,at normal cost maybe100-150 bucks parts and labor, it may be the oil pan also but i lean more towards the valve cover theory.really any shop like pep boys ,midas is fine they do stand behind there work just ask questions good luck
any seerice shop as they are ase certified ueually on there front door
To get your oil leak fixed, and if you don't want to do it yourself, take the car to a big company. Such as pepboys, but don't change up your location. If you always go to pep boys, take the car to pep boys for everything, that way if anything goes wrong, you just blame them. Wal-mart is also a good one, real big company, they can't afford to mess up. As well as if you got NTB, National Tire and Battery. Good mechanics there too. But I myself would go to pepboys. That's where my sister has always gone, and anything that went wrong with her car, she took it there, and they'd have to fix it.
