Car put into reverse while moving..oil leak. Please help!?

There are a few questions on here about this sort of thing but they involve manual cars mainly.

I have a 1990 Volvo 240GL and whilst going down the freeway the other night my car got bumped into reverse.

The car shut off immediately after jerking suddenly. I continued to drive it the remaining 100km or so home with no issues. All the gears including reverse work.

However it now has a large oil leak. What do you think the problem is? Do you think the car will be ok?

Please no super doom and gloom answers about people dying due to exploding gear boxes etc etc (:P)Car put into reverse while moving..oil leak. Please help!?
You really need to figure out if it's motor oil or transmission fluid. I would surmise that engaging reverse at high speed has produced enough pressure for the fluid to bypass a seal. I wouldn't drive it any further than the nearest auto service, but don't think there will be too much wrong.Car put into reverse while moving..oil leak. Please help!?
I don't see why the car would have shut off by tossing it in reverse. It's hydraulic. You need to fix the leak, so the question is irrelevant. The longer you drive, the more you risk damage. What kind of answer were you expecting?
you're hosed. bust out the credit card.
