I have a dodge ram 5.9L and have an oil leak out of the bottom of the block near the timing belt. What is it?

My truck is a dodge ram 1500 5.9L gas 360. The oil is dripping right out of where the timing belt and timing belt gasket is. I believe it is the timing belt gasket, but I am not sure. I was thinking it also could be a piston rod that has come loose and poked a hole in the bottom of the block, but I don't think that is the case. What sound would it make if that were the case? I believe it is the timing belt's gasket right at the bottom of the block that is leaking oil, but I am not sure. Any help?I have a dodge ram 5.9L and have an oil leak out of the bottom of the block near the timing belt. What is it?
Trust me, if your connecting rod had poked a hole in your engine block, you'd know it. In fact, the engine probably wouldn't be running at all. Most likely a front crankshaft oil seal, or the front of the oil pan gasket. You're just gonna have to get down there and look.

If it's coming from the center of the front of the engine, and above the oil pan, it's the crank seal. If you don't have a seal driver, an appropriate diameter piece of straight exhaust tubing works pretty well. Use a 2lb. sledge turned sideways to tap it in gently, after cutting the tubing so it will extend just past the crank after the seal is in.

Here's some links to help you out.

btw, your engine uses a chain, not a belt.I have a dodge ram 5.9L and have an oil leak out of the bottom of the block near the timing belt. What is it?
I cant really narrow this down without seeing it. It may be the timing belt gasket, but timing belts dont generally have oil in there (but if you have a timing chain there would be). Check the valve cover gaskets and oil pan gaskets. IF the valve cover gaskets are leaking, it could be running down the engine. A piston is not going to come through the engine block, and if you have a bad or loose piston, the engine wouldnt run very well.
Well the good news is there is no timing belt or timing belt gasket on your truck. The bad news is from what you are describing, the front crank seal and or timing chain cover is leaking. As far as a piston going through your engine, you'd hear that pretty loud.
That's your front seal. easy fix if you know what your doing.
First off. The 5.9 has a chain, not a belt. The leak is probably the front crankshaft seal, that fits into the timing chain cover. Clean it up with brake cleaner, and then run it to check for leaks. You'll need a harmonic balancer puller if you're going to change it. Good luck.
