You need to get a seal kit for the oil filter adapter from a Jeep or Chrysler dealer. It consists of 2 orings, one goes on the bolt that attatches the filter adapter, and the other goes under the adapter itself. Very common leak-not hard to fix. (the bolt can be a real pain to get out, though). Trust me on this-I've fixed dozens of them. How do i fix an oil leak from the filter mount on a 93 grand cherokee?
No problem-glad to help. Report Abuse

the best thing to do (if you can diy) is to changfe the filter as that is where the problem is and then keep an eye on it cousts about 20$ for one litter oil and new filter...

Good luck...
This seems to be common on Jeeps from this time period. You will need a OEM part from the dealer. It will cost about $150-$200 if I remember correctly. This type of leak is often mistaken for other leaks because it drips down the back of the engine. You might be able to do it yourself.. but you will still need to get the OEM part.
firs things first. change your oil and filter. then go to your local car wash that has the bays and the self serve power washers and degrease that part of the engine. then you can drive home and see exactly where the oil is coming from then after you figure out what part that is get a new gasket for it and install it. if you really need more help you need to have someone look at the engine with you and show you the part names and how to take it apart. or autozone.com has some walk throughs for most makes and models or you can get a haynes or chiltons manual.
um take it to a mechanic
did oil leak start after a recent oil change,,,if so, go get a new filter, remove filter and old gasket from the filter that was still stuck to mount when filter was removed,,,,only need gasket that is in place with new filter,,,discard any extras with old filter, only other posible leak in that area is oil pressure switch above the filter area
