Is off-shore oil drilling so great for short term? Will Miss. River be clean of oil leak by Republican Conv.?

Some of the candidate affirmative rhetoric - -

Sen. John McCain says at every campaign stop that offshore oil drilling is safe, playing down the risk of environmental accidents, even when faced with the power of a hurricane.

';I'm aware that off the coast of Louisiana and Texas there are oil rigs, as we well know, and those rigs have survived, very successfully, the impacts of hurricanes, Hurricane Katrina, as far as Louisiana's concerned,'; McCain said at a town hall in Michigan last week.

In an energy speech recently, McCain said that: ';As for offshore drilling, it's safe enough these days that not even Hurricanes Katrina and Rita could cause significant spillage from the battered rigs off the coasts of New Orleans and Houston.';

Is he no longer seeking environmental organizations endorsements?Is off-shore oil drilling so great for short term? Will Miss. River be clean of oil leak by Republican Conv.?
No it isn't. According to recent interviews reported on NBC news it still would take 10 years before it would show any signifant difference, and as far as the oil price goes it probably wouldn't even have a signifant impact because we do export a lot of oil.....Is off-shore oil drilling so great for short term? Will Miss. River be clean of oil leak by Republican Conv.?
You left out the part that there were NO personnel on board the tug that were certified to do that job.

Funny how you people always leave out details.

FYI---

The company that I work for makes oilfield drillling equipment. You people have NO CLUE as to what you are talking about.
Enviro nut jobs are commie pieces of s***. lets not shud down the modern world because occasionally there is an accident. You want a pollution disaster, go to China or India.
Why look for trouble where there isn't any...?

JUST VOTE MCCAIN !!!

Democrats 4 McCain !!!
He is correct, I live in the Hurricane Katrina impacted area and 3 years after, the quality of the Gulf water is good...we eat shrimp and fish out of it and it is normal...they have the mouth of the Mississippi blocked until they can clean that spill up...New Orleans ships are coming to my town's port right now...an oil rig came in during Hurricane Katrina and took a bridge out near me and there was no oil spillage...they must cap off the well somehow as the storm approaches...and the best fishing is around the rigs out in the Gulf...
